Are we sure this isn't what the iP6 may look like? It seems like there should have been more rumors about it if it was going to be the 5.

So a friend told me there was a gathering in Boston Common a few miles away. I didn't leave my house until almost 2AM so I was a bit late but I stuck around until the police got the crowd to disperse. I only had my on camera flash and there is NO LIGHT there so I did what I could.

This is one of the reasons why I don't have any of my credit card associated with my iTunes account. I always just buy myself some iTunes credit and use that instead. So far I've never bought anything by accident on iTunes (but I did once buy a Kindle book on Amazon by accident (since Kindle books are automatically and always 1-Click purchases even if you disable that feature for everything else on Amazon). Lesson learned for this kid and mother. Luckily they were able to get a refund from Apple.

Apple should take this as a big threat, apple has Ipod/itunes/ITMS, microsoft has argo/windows media player 11/xbox/xbox live/windows media centre and the lemmings that fall for that entire thing! The ipod ecosystem has worked well for apple, but they need to expand it, bring out a media centre version of the mac, break the ITMS away from a single PC and have it accessible from anywhere (wireless not necisarily implied) and try to get PC manufacturers to install itunes on their PC like they did with HP.

I get about the same drop rate or worse in the DC Metro area. I also have friends on AT&T that have their text messages go to the wrong person. Thinking seriously of getting a Verizon BB and an iPod Touch to replace my iPhone. :(:(:( Sorry :apple:
I get very good reception in the DC metro area (NoVA). I estimate only 1-5% dropped calls, which is acceptable to me.

So, lets say you have Vista in Parallels - and a service or security update comes out. Could you still download it? I have a W2000 SP1 legally but it still doesn't let me update, giving me some error that our IT persons couldn't understand...

Almost as funny as your daughters face when she discovers that her dad is a brutal bigot who waits outside toilet doors to beat people up (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12453464&postcount=56).
Woah there big boy, calm down.
He is a father who has a daughter, put yourself in his shoes...
Also when did he explicitly state he "waits outside toilet doors to beat people up"?

Clarifications:
XNU is post 1996 merger. Mach pre merger was 2.9. Post merger is a mix of Mach 3.x with XNU and FreeBSD, plus Apple's own advances.
Everyone who worked on OS X at Apple in Core Engineering was a merging of NeXT Engineering with some Apple Engineers and future talent. Apple bought NeXT for the IP, Code Bases, Tools, Engineering Talent and Leadership.
BSD is not GNU.
I think you are referring to IO Kit rather than XNU. Darwin (the core OS) features the Mach-O kernel that was created from the merger of BSD and a custom set of APIs coming from the NeXT era - XNU was the child of the merger so to speak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_(operating_system). BSD was used to create the network and filesystem stacks.
BSD is technically NOT what most consider true UNIX. Nowadays (post 1990s we are talking) consider System 5 as "true" unix. It is however viewed as a derivative featuring near-on all UNIX-like services.
It was called System V (5) because of 5 original license holders - SGI, SUN, HP, IBM and Microsoft. (Yes Microsoft licensed Xenix from AT&T in the 1970's - from this came AmigaOS....) in 1982 Microsoft solds its license to SCO and then in 2003 brought it back again....
Lastly, BSD evolved to POSIX and Linux came from that route...
IF someone would like to see a SystemV manual (UNIX) please send an email..
Some of us grew up on a PDP-11..... Scary thoughts... Nowadays im messing with Darwin and OpenDarwin builds :) Crashed a few MBP's rebuilding the kernel a couple of times....
If anyone would like to see the code (and its available at apple although hidden.... see this link -> http://www.opensource.apple.com/release/mac-os-x-106/ - note that XNU is still under APPL and BSD licensing...)

How long after you make a purchase does the App Store remember your password so you don't have to enter it again? I presume that's what happened in this case.

You bring up a VERY good point. The US grows over 300 million metric tons of corn each year and we pack it into every softdrink. Even 'fruit' juices have more HFCS than actual fruit. Corn is poorly digested to begin with, and corn syrup definitely causes issues. The US also allows the usage of a few major chemicals in foods which the rest of the industrialized world, and a lot of the non industrialized world, stopped using years ago. Links of these chemicals to obesity is still being studied.

For all those people who signed up for the beta.. I'm pretty sure this is a PRIVATE beta. VMware has said they'll do a public beta by the end of the year, and I'm pretty sure that'll be PUBLIC.
Basically, I'm sure that they're just ramping up to get some features in for the public beta, but wanted to test functionality and what not with this private beta. They've still got 2 months or so to hold up to that statement ("by the end of the year")

I'm not a big fan of technical analysis, since it tends to ignore everything but share price over time. In my experience technical analysts are wrong as often as they are right.

OS X isn't perfect, and it's unreasonable to expect that it will never ever be breached.
That said, Apple have done a great job thus far. My worry isn't so much individual (trivial?) exploits, but rather that OS X would go down the XP route and require constant patching. The last thing Apple needs is to have to fight fires in the same way Microsoft has had to with XP.
Security is a key selling point for the mac platform and it is essential that Apple maintain their advantage with the vastly improved Vista fast approaching.
I hope Apple will address these problems with the urgency they merit.

Microsoft bought 150 million in non-voting stock. Hardly a controlling interest. They have since sold most if not all of that stock for a tidy profit. Apple in turn dropped the "Look and Feel" lawsuit (which they weren't going to win anyway) and MS promised updates to "Office" and IE. Microsoft has NO significant financial stake in Apple.
It had nothing to do with the "look and feel" lawsuit. Apple had lost that one five years earlier. The legal issues still remaining between Apple and Microsoft in 1997 were over multimedia.
Edit: And FWIW, Microsoft's "investment" in Apple amounted to about 5% of their market value at the time, which would hardly have been a controlling interest even if they stock bought them any votes, which it did not. Microsoft is thought to have divested the shares in 2000.

You can't beat it because it's a pirate site. NONE of the money from the site goes to the artists, songwriters, producers, labels, etc.
There's a reason it's based out of Russia. So I hope you're happy knowing your essentially buying stolen property.
Proof please. You have no idea what does or doesn't go to the artists, songwriters, producers, etc. You are speculating. The site has been up and running for years now, because noone has been able to prove in a court that they are doing anything illegal. If the courts decide otherwise and shut the site down, I'll move back to Amazon.
