I spent most of the night last night trying to get gpu2 running in wine on the i7 machine but ran into a problem and gave up. But I have found that the issue may not be with my set up, it may be the wu are bad so I will work on that again tonight to see what happens if I can get a different wu. Here is some info. Anyone feel confident buying a white one given the problems they've had getting one made?
Granted all of the issues everyone has had with the iPhone 4 over the past year (death grip/Antennagate, etc), I doubt that colour is going to be the least of their concerns.
At this point, waiting another 3 - 5 months for an iPhone 5 would be more prudent than being locked into something so soon before a new device comes out.

We need a 24" screen size, or something close to it.
21 to 27".....there's too much of a jump. 21" is too small for many and 27" may be too large.
23-25" is the sweet spot.

Let's not go claim that one side is totally white and the other totally black. These are huge corporations we're talking about. They do things for their own profits.
And anyway, as has been shown, aside from the Vibrant and international i9000 models (those pictures everyone going "Samsung are copycats!" are trumpeting around), the Galaxy S line is quite different from the iPhone and while the icon grid looks the same, one is inside the App Drawer and the other on the home screen. The TouchWiz homescreen doesn't have the icon grid.
This case isn't so clear cut. And now adding the Samsung counter-suit, it's even less. To claim one side is wrong and the other right at this point is quite disingenuous.
Again, let the courts decide. Siding with one corporation or another should not be something we bother with as consumers.

Is it confirmed these beauties have SATA III?
Exactly what I'm wondering. The new laptops have SATA III for the boot drive but II for the optical. I would hope these have III for the boot drive and optional SSD, it would be nice if they just went ahead and used it for the optical as well.
Now how about a mac pro update, now there are two cheaper lines with thunderbolt (and likely SATA III).

You have a point, but Apple didn't necessarily want an exclusive carrier. That does nothing for Apple's business. AT&T obviously paid for Apple's exclusivity.
Um.... I am pretty sure that Apple gets a higher subsidy from having an exclusive carrier agreement, lowering the cost to their customers, yet still keeping margins on the device high.
Someone to correct me if I am wrong.

i was totally disappointed. I was 2nd in line at Best Buy Anaheim only to find out they got 15 ipad2. No 3g or 64gb. Wasted my time! Never going to shop there again!!!!!

Strange that Apple would potentially lose lots of customers with no new iPhone this summer..
I was looking forward to another crazy all nighter at the mall a couple thousand other nuts, might not be able to do it in the fall.. What a bummer..

It seems that nobody ever likes anything successful.. Look at poor mcdonalds,coca cola,Ford and now apple and its ipod.... All the biggest comapanies always get in trouble. BMW and their idrive, ford and the firestone blowouts, apple and hearing loss... while dont people stop being jealous and peee off.
I think, if big companies or successful products are being "attacked" it's because a lot of people are using their products and at a certain point those companies have to have a much bigger responsibility towards the enduser.
Because as more people are using the iPod as more people are in danger using it the wrong way and suffer from hearing loss.
Of course a lot of people sue big companies just for the sake of money and in North America the whole thing got out of hand, but I believe, that big companies have to make sure that people don't get hurt because of their products.

When Microsoft claim that their investment might not pay off for five years, they're paving the way for failure. For the next two or three years, when pressed about the lack of profits, they can claim that the payoff will be in a couple of years from then. They won't have to actually admit that they've failed until after 2010. It's not dissimilar to Bill Gates claiming that there's an 80% chance of Vista shipping on time, it sounds positive, but few people believe it actually will ship in January. One thing I want is a new phone, my old one's battery is so crappy it lasts for a couple of hours and than it starts beeping to signal that the battery is dead. Very annoying.

Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway?
I haven't read for sure, but I'm guessing these products are RAIDed for speed, not redundancy.
How many drives are in there? It's possible they've got the speeds up pretty high on them.

I kinda like it I guess, after all that has always been the Apple way, they coined the term "Desktop" with Lisa because they were trying to emulate the stuff you had on your desk (When demonstrating Lisa Write they described creating a new document as "tearing off a clean sheet of paper"), BUT like others, I like having my neat, clean PC interface for my calender, hopefully there will be a "classic" mode.

Any idea where the best place for a black 16 wifi would be? I think that's all I really need, no 3g and i'll only have apps, maybe a movie here or there when traveling, no? Brea is the closest to me but it sounds like a battlefield, i'd prefer a Best Buy since I have giftcards but my recent time spent there makes me feel like i'd rather spend the money in gift cards to not have to go there again.
Was at Brea this morning and it was pretty good. They received about 50 or so iPads with a lot of 16GB Black Wifi. I'd recommend getting there no later than 5:30 if you want to be in the top 15. First person in line arrived at 4:30 today. Insane.
Also, last word of advice on Brea, make sure you get INTO the mall. Find an employee entrance to enter through. The line starts AT THE APPLE STORE! Not outside the mall. Good luck.
Lastly, don't plan on picking one up at Best Buy. There is a huge list to get them already and Best Buy will not have inventory for quite some time.
