How are they coming up with the number of (gun) crimes committed by blacks? That is an important question because it is probably based on convictions. A higher percentage of blacks are arrested for crimes, which is compounded by a system (at least here) that convicts blacks at a higher rate. So, there may be a statistically disproportionate number of crimes committed by blacks, but if the system concentrates that trend, the statistics are going to seem worse than reality.

@SVD thanks. I wasnt too keen on some of my earlier stuff either. I knew how I wanted to express myself but didn't know my camera well enough to. It's good to know my stuff is appreciated, thanks for the compliment. I only have the xs, 24-70L, and the speedlight. I do have studio strobes and backdrops and stuff but thats it.

If you look at the picture of the iPhone poster, it seems to have a couple of subtle differences compared to my iPhone:
http://images.appleinsider.com/macworld-banner-7.jpg
Maybe I'm just suffering from pre macworld hallucinations, but that certainly looks different to my iPhone...
Subtle ?? That's not the current iPhone interface when in a call.
It's blaring right at you.look at that iPhone. It shows the blue area at the top.Go make a call and see how it looks.
This is a new iPhone or creative license.

I've been reading about every other post in this thread and as a long time Beatles fan, wanted to weigh in. I already own the entire Beatles catalog on CD and carry all their releases (minus "Live at the BBC" and a good number of tracks on the Anthologies) around with me on MP3 CD. I used to have it on iPod, but I got a shuffle and gave my 15GB to my wife. So, I have no need to purchase the music. Even if they remastered it, it would still be in 128kb AAC, and that would be a waste.
I would, however, buy a Beatles iPod in a second. Hell, I might even camp out at an Apple store for that. Some people here have said the band is old, and their time is over. I couldn't disagree more. Their music is as fresh as it was in the 60s. They completely changed the face of rock and roll and more importantly, the face of recording. Some of the things the band and George Martin did in the studio are groundbreaking. My list of favorite bands changes on a near daily basis, but the Beatles are always locked in at number 1 on that list. Their influence on modern artists is undeniable. I hear the influences in so many types of music, although that is disappearing with the garbage pawned off on the public as music these days.
I hope these rumors are true because I do think:
1) Apple Computer innovated computing and the music industry with the iPod and iTunes, just as the Beatles did.
2) The ads would be classic
3) The thought of McCartney and Ringo with Steve Jobs on the MacWorld stage makes me tingle with anticipation.
4) Apple Corps was created to breed and inspire creativity, and I think Apple computer does the same thing. It's a match made in heaven.
Paul McCartney is quite a jerk. I wouldn't want to see Steve Jobs insult himself by appearing with him.
Apple Corps breed, inspire creativity? Geewhiz, I don't know whether that's the case... enough LSD and that helps
Honestly I like some Beatles songs but this is the most overrated band in the history of mankind. Even Cat Stevens and Steely Dan turned out much better.

I totally agree with you and I blame the Washington Post for the initial insanity. The headline and article made it sound as if the MacBook was the problem and not the third-party device driver. Obviously, there is a security hole that needs to be addressed by vendors like Apple, but this isn't an Apple hardware problem.
I may have beeen initially too dismissive of the article, but that's because of the sudden yellow tint to all the articles regarding Macintosh security. The tech-press is ready to wet themselves the moment a Macintosh hole is discovered and far too many people, offended by the Get A Mac commercials, have their long knives sharpened and are just waiting for the opportunity to use them. Some were so quick on the draw I suspect they merely read the headline.
The problem is that it was also from a third party device driver from something that almost ZERO people will use with MacBooks ... a USB to wireless adapter. Further, the driver for the third party device had to be installed "PRIOR" to the hack and then also had to access the wireless access point via the terminal ... who does that? And how many people just have the terminal open?

anyone experiencing random shut downs after the firmware update?
i just got my macbook back yesterday after waiting for over a month for them to replace the heatsink and then the topcase because nothing worked after the replacement.
i didn't realize that this update was out, and when i first tried to update, the computer wouldn't get past the grey screen then the vertical lines came back. i was about to throw it out the window. i reset the pram and it still wouldnt work.
i then reinstalled the update and so far it is working fine...i think what happened was i interrupted the update the first time. woops.
anyways, i would love to know how everyone's computer is doing now. anybody?

On Adobe's website, it has announced the date of termination for CS Live Services, being April 12 2012. Maybe this will coincide with the date of the CS6 launch?

Directed a friend to the Great Barrington store in western MA this morning. Store had a total of 6 units. He was the only one there at 9am opening and picked up a black 16gb wifi. Salesperson tried selling extras (including an 1st gen ipad cover, lol) but none were required.

London is not representative of the rest of the UK at all. It skews almost every figure released that is related to population. I've never seen anyone with a gun, I don't know anyone with a gun and I doubt I ever will.
This is always going to be the case when a single city has over 12% of the country's population.

yes I do ... and I am 100% in support ... I would be more than willing to pay more taxes if Canada increased our spending to bring us more on par with the US.
Uh... why? You would put your country in our economic tailspin of disaster to have a bigger military for the off-chance Russia invades? :D

If Apple manufactured their products in the US, the iPhone would probably cost $999 with a 2-year contract and the iPad would probably cost $1599 for the 16GB model.
When you have to pay someone $12 an hour to work an assembly line and pay for benefits and payroll taxes, that raises costs a lot to a country where you can pay 75 cents per hour and benefits like health insurance cost $5 a month rather than $500.
A 25-page document isn't necessary and the law would be dumb. All that it takes is for someone to take a basic economics course.
Americans who complain about jobs leaving overseas need to realize that when they go shopping they need to put their money where their mouth is. Everyone pays lip service to "made in the usa" but when they look at the price tags in the store they buy made in china!
The thing to watch here is if the quality improves when production is done in Brazil. If the production quality is the same or better, that's good news for consumers.
Recently I have purchased two truck toys for my kid, one was a made in China Tonka truck $50, the other was a Bruder truck $50 made in Germany, about same size trucks, same functionality, and the Bruder was made out of nice soft plastics where Tonka was made from hard cheap plastics, plus if you would even look at both of the toys you would see just how much better and how much more detail the Bruder had over Tonka. Anyway, one would think that a childs toys is a low skill labor job and that it wouldn't make any sense building it in a highly developed nation yet somehow its doable in Germany. I see more made in EU toys in European Union countries than I see made in USA toys in USA (which is almost zero). This is just an example to show that simply US companies are more greedy and they just want more bottom line profit, nothing else. They don't care about local communities, their towns, basically their own consumer base, because the people who make it are also the people who buy it. But this kind of mentality is good for short term investment, what happens if your entire middle class disappears (its been happening for the past 25 years)? Who will buy the overpriced Nike or Apple products? I could see an advantage of cheaper labor in labor intensive niche products but those products are expensive to begin with, so if a person would be able to afford a $2000 Coach made in China bag, then they could easily afford a $2250 made in USA bag. Again, labor cost difference in mass production items is minimal.
Another issue is outsourcing of ALL the jobs, these days you have doctors from Russia reading the CT scans or X Rays for American practices and does a US patient see a decrease in medical costs??? NOPE You have paralegals outsourced all over the world, programmers/IT, lawyers, pretty much any industry can be outsourced these days except for services. And again, the savings in labor are not passed towards the consumer, its more about increasing profits for select few.
Do you really think that iPhone would cost $999 if it were made in USA? It would be maybe $50-75 more expensive than it is now and all the money would stay within the country making the country stronger and local economies strong and stable. And last but not least, US government allows all of this, its funny how for over 50 years they were battling USSR and communism yet since the 1970s they helped one of the most oppressive communist countries which is China become a world power. On one hand USA is trying to teach "democracy" in the Middle East and yet they do business with one of the largest oppressive countries in the world. Anyway, I'll end my rant, its not like the world will change tomorrow.

wow, what is the point of even advertising a smaller box, the nano box was miniscule as it is. It just makes you wonder what they have cut out of the old box to make this box smaller, maybe they make you buy the dock and ipod-> usb cable, and the ipod plug all seperately.

Holograms people... we want holograms.
Beyond 3D and holograms, I want an iPad that replaces Facetime with a real Transporter Room app. I want to be able to beam friends and relatives to my current location and time continuum.
Apple, stay ahead of the game.

What did they ban and why?
They banned songs like Lucy in the Sky and Ticket to Ride... (not to mention Metallica's Seek and Destroy) because the songs reminded people of the event.

Where does it say 10 days later?
The level "Long Night of Solace" takes place on August 13, 2552. When you arrive, on foot, in New Alexandria for the level "Exodus", the date is August 23, 2552. It shows you the date each level takes place during all the cutscenes. The game doesn't take place over the course of 3 days or anything. From the first level through the end, over a month passes (July 24 to August 30).
Like I said that was my opinion. The story is rubbish.
That is fine. I'm not telling you what your opinion should be. I'm just saying, I found the story to be quite good, and all of the levels seemed very logical in their order and importance. The fact that you missed all the dates in all the cutscenes might explain why you found them to be "random" in their occurrence. The story was VERY far from rubbish, in my opinion.

interesting cause when I bought my iPad2, iPad1, iPhone4 they always asked for my email and then it pulled up my info and they would ask me to verify that my info is correct...
Then if you register it they have your info that way to....
They may have your info, if you ever gave it to them, or registered on iTunes, and paid with the same card. However if you paid by cash, and a lot do, or have a card that you havent registered at apple or have never given your address, then no they dont have your info.
Its amazing how many people still pay in cash for high value items.
Someone else stated that if you paid by card then apple will have you address anyway, that isnt really correct as the card doesnt contain your address nor would the card company give out that info (data protection). The only reason that they have your address when your card is swipped is cause you gave them the info at one point when using that card and it is in the database. They can call up using your email address as well if that is in the database.

Why such a great camera on the iphone and such loser ones on the ipad?
Because the iPad one isnt expected to be widely used for photography, just for certain uses like Facetime or Augmented Reality stuff. Making the camera more decent on the iPad would have increased thickness unnecessarily in a product where a thinner "pad" is much more usable.
