Seriously? An apple rumors forum is no place fo a shareholder? That's absurd.
"As you can see 260K people bought HTC Thunderbolt since Verizon started selling them (about a month). This translates to about 3 million phones annually. Clearly the demand is there. Also, you keep forgetting that other phones have swappable batteries."
If you want to play numbers, the iPhone on Verizon (same carrier as thunderbolt) sold 2.2 million in two months, compared to a quarter million in one month for tbolt. Saying that equals 3million annually 1) makes it compete better with the iPhone over two months on a single carrier and 2) assumes that the numbers remain constant. Being that people are figuring out that the battery life is dreadful (and you forget that the majority of the market doesn't want to swap batteries like it's 1999) and that android phones have a short cycle of being the hottest new thing, I don't think there's a basis to assume consistent sales in line with their opening month. Numbers can say anything when there's no common sense behind it.
I mentioned these numbers to prove totally different point namely that there are plenty of people who want LTE. Also, HTC probably has ten or so smartphone models. If all of them were as successful as Thunderbolt HTC would already be ahead of Apple :D

At $79 a year it will probably be 5 years before the program moves to a commonly useful level where it may have the ability to replace MS Office. The very casual Word Processor user will not have to wait very long, maybe Pages 3 or Pages 4. With the 5 X $79 = $395 we move into the price range of the non-educational price of MS Office. But for the heavy Office user, 5 years may not be long enough.
I write lengthy academic papers, am writing a play and a book which I am pretty far into. So far, I don't miss Word one bit, and that is using Pages 2.
Pages has a lot of features. It just takes some time to learn how to use it.

Can you name a few more? I have only seen Sony support AAC on their PMP devices.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Audio_Coding#Hardware
I don't understand why people still call AAC a "proprietary Apple format" in 2011. It's not even from Apple.
Screenshots in Mac OS X are saved as 32-bit PNGs, yet I've never heard anyone call PNG an "Apple format".

Really? People downing the product already before we even know what it's going to have? Really?
Or are there people just trolling for a response?
...way too premature for a stupid comment like "matte finish or fail". Yeah, they rake in $16 billion a year, I am sure they will be bankrupt before the year is out if they dont have a matte iMac..... LMAO

I doubt theres anyone waiting specifically for this phone, but there are still people who are coming off contract and this is a fresh option vs the black model.
+1. Apple knows that people coming off contracts in the spring/summer are used to having a new iPhone to upgrade to. If there were nothing "fresh" they may go elsewhere. So the white iPhone is being offered as something shiny and new to lure in those summer upgraders while Apple readies the iPhone 5 for Fall 2011.
I bet they've had this plan for a while. Does anyone think it really took them this long to get the white iPhone fixed?
My prediction: white iPhone very soon, possibly with a slight spec bump (64gb option?) Then nothing until September when the next iPhone is announced (my guess is it will be the "iPhone 4G"). It probably won't actually ship until October, which means you probably won't be able to get your hands on one until November, especially outside the US. Long story short, it's not worth waiting if you need/want to upgrade your phone now. iPhone 4 is gonna be around for a while, and my guess is that Apple planned that all along.

Moving the iPhone release to autumn could also help shift more units since it's not long before the Christmas shopping season.
...
Only drawback is the people coming off two year contracts
Ever since the iPhone came out I've said that it will eventually replace the iPod. That day may be coming sooner than we guessed.
Someday the iPhone will be just like the iPad. There's no 'iPod Touch,' just an 'iPhone' that you buy with or without a 3G or 4G chip. And it's up to you if you want to buy service to go along with it or not. (They could still call it the 'iPhone.' The chip-less one would come with a booklet telling you about Skype and Viber and other wifi phone services.)
Such a device would naturally go on sale before the holiday season, so maybe we're close to that happening. I don't think it'll be this year, but maybe they're getting us ready for the year when it does happen.

If I ruled the world the person / people doing the beating would get a mandatory minimum 5 years in jail. The prison population would go up short term but the message would get across eventually. No getting out early for good behaviour either.

I thought based on all the other reports it was a fore gone conclusion that there will not be any IP5 this summer.

That doesn't say anything remotely similar to "envisioned by apple." either. In fact, from your own article, try this link :

Let's not give a bigger role to Apple than the one they played.

I wonder what's different in this one? Release log anyone?

Multiprocessor support is way way cool. That could make me throw away my work machine and just keep working with my Mac Pro :-)
Well... another thing that stops me from working with virtual machines is the lack of support for multi-monitor setups... I can't return to developing software with just one... so let's hope VMWare addresses this sometime, hopefully soon. I would really love to have my Mac with 3 monitors instead of my Pc with 2 and my mac with one... :-)
Now I'm just waiting to get my invitation email... if it happens...
Agreed. Multiprocessor support is critical. I do audio production, and this would be a nice way of incorporating Windows-only software into my rig (for compatibility with others). But in Parallels, having access to only one core means my iMac is too slow to handle complex projects.

This is why Android phones are creeping up on iOS...they are offering more features and constant innovation in the hardware. iPhone users (and I used to be one) only enjoy hardware innovation once a year.
Maybe we will see an LTE iPhone in 2012, maybe not but I can say with all the certainty in the world that Android will have kick ass dual core LTE phones with large screens and probably something retina like in resolution by then. I wouldn't be surprised to see 12 MP cameras, 2-3 MP front cameras all running Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Where? Not is Oz. the HTC Desire is the last android that actually seemed to be worth buying. The desire HD is okay, but not that good. (plus it doesn't come on the Telstra's stupid NextG network.)
Most android phones seem to get the reviews: could do better. As far as I can tell, virtually all are regarded at best as just sub-par to the iPhone 4, except the Desire which is even older.
It pains me as I'd prefer a OSS base over proprietary, and both the HTC Desire & iphone4 seem to be reaching the end of their cycle. Then there is the reluctance of networks to upgrade the software, and the strange lack of syncing with anything other than official supported systems. Possible, but just too hard with plenty of caveats.
