I think that's a poor example because Konfabulator was already around and Apple essentially just took that idea and made it part of the OS. Desk Accessories which were part of the original Mac, released in 1984, were similar to widgets. So I don't see where revolution comes to mind. They've evolved, but it's not a revolutionary idea.
Not to mention Firefox and Google have had the same stuff for years...

What does the screen look like when you remove the front flass panel? Is is still glossy under there? If the glass panel is just stuck on magnetically like that then what prevents companies of making simple bezels to replace it with the screen area cut out?
Still quite glossy but not as glossy. Not like the anti-glare MBP's at all. Most people who've seen an iMac turned on without the glass panel will say it looks better 'naked'. It looks brighter and sharper. Problem is, it's so fragile without it, scratches incredibly easily, attracts dust like you wouldn't believe and fingerprints take a lot of buffing to get out. It's also probably not great for the airflow.

...or glowing orbs on the ends maybe - you're right, that would be pretty cool!
;)
I don't know how "positionally accurate" that PS3 thing would be. Since you really need 2 points (which can actually be found by the range imager alone, albeit you need to add "this is not part of the body" algorithms into it) to define a line, holding a "sword" in various angles might present a problem with the bulb. And I don't know why they used that glowing ball. They could have used IR and it wouldn't look so retarded.

Why is their no looting in Japan?
the answer is very simple ... The population of Japan is made up of mostly Japanese culture.
The guy on CNN last night summed it up best ... there is a bit of looting ... and it is being committed by foreigners.

The 750 HD option is on the Mac Pro as well as the 24" iMac. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they changed the layout on several of their store pages too.
They changed some of the prices slightly (at least the academic versions). But what I can't figure out is that I configured a MacPro changing to 2 gig ram, bluetooth and wifi, wireless keyboard and mouse and somehow saved $2. what an odd amount.
cheers.

Well, since it hasn't been proven that it was stolen yet, it would be false to call it stolen property.
Additionally, Grokster can only be punished for purchasing stolen goods if they pay OVER $5000. They paid $5000, so they are in the clear (if I read the state law correctly).
Ok, allude to the fact it could be stolen property. But, certainly don't leave that very important factor into this situation out.

Umm, printing is 25% of the cost and Apple takes 30%. Add in the bulk mailing per issue, which is very little, and it won't equal what Apple takes. yet people want these magazine companies to take less. Apple reduces their take and we'll see prices per mag go down.
Wrong again. You do realize that when you buy a magazine from a store they get some money too don't you? About 30%. Plus, there is a middle man in magazine distribution. They get paid too. So, when you add it all up, the 30% to Apple is less than they pay today.

Independent brewery, guest ales, novelty beer titles, associations with historical battles. This is all music to the ale drinkers ears.
Sounds great.
I remember a South Australian brewer bottling duff-beer ala the Simpsons in the nineties. I think it was just their usual beer in cans etc made to look like the original duff package. Once the copyright holders got wind of it that was the end of that idea. Still I believe an unopened 6 pack or carton goes for quite a bit on auction. But there's certainly great variety of beers out there including one I read about just recently that has a 40% rating, cost more than $200 for 1 stubby and comes in a special package. Apparently it doesn't taste all that nice but after a couple of those I doubt you'd notice the taste or how much lighter your wallet had become!

MHHH how about the nokia N91

Or the samsung SGH-i310

Agree with you on one point, I dont think there will be a flash storage ipod for some time, but maybe a Harddrive with built in NAND like what we are starting to see on notebooks.
Don't have smart-cards have small HDDs inside? This is small enough for a phone in my opinion.

Actually, it will be better than Garmin.
What they do, is they hire local people to watch you via the position tracking. Then, they can give you directions based on your exact location.
Imagine, "Slow down for upcoming pot hole on left."
Hey, that'd be great! And they could offer a "Find My Car" service and help you report thefts and unauthorized access.
"Hey, did you let your daughter borrow your car today? Because there she goes!"

Panic. I installed the firmware, the little bar was moving across the screen, and then halfway across -- the computer shut down. Now my screen is dead, I can't tell if the hard drive is functioning, my restore CD is 20 miles away, and I'm scared witless. WTF?!?!?!
Suggestions?
You have to burn the firmware CD with another mac computer (perhaps apple store guy can help). Then, you can boot from this CD, and the update of firmware will continue. GOOD LUCK.

for those of you worried about how to input text etc. when a piano keyboard (for example) is on the touch-sensitive pad... in the pictures the touch-pad thing is at least twice the size of the add-on, meaning a big section of unused touchy-space-goodness, used for Inkpad integration or another input. a keyboard and a mixer... that would be sweeeeet.
Also think of the possibilities for school implementation. Some kid craps up his keyboard? just get another add-on out. music lessons? piece of cake with the integrated piano keyboard and mixer. science lessons? optional scientific calculator add on.
whats really cool is you could even have widget like things that can be as small or big as they need to be, to create a truly seamless and intuitive computing experience.
Amazing. Truly Amazing. This is why I love Apple.

There is only one "viewer" now, which swaps between showing the timeline or editing clips. In the left side panel, you can choose clips, and they appear in the single viewer. Then when you drag them into the timeline, the viewer switches to timeline playback.
I think that this makes a lot of sense, as you would not use the viewer and the timeline playback at the same time anyway, so why not let it switch automatically between then two, saving space.
I get that, but I need to compare frames side-by-side at times to ensure they're going to flow together. I love space-saving UI but I'm not sure that this one is going to pan out for me. I see a keystroke to quickly switch between the two in my future...

It's a parking lot.
Either that - or they are really good at driving to be so close without hitting the brakes (ie no brake lights are on in the photo)

yeah, I know what you mean. I was a little hesitant to do it too since I too was not having any sleep issues. But I just can't stand having something show up in software update and not downloading it! The update was actually the first time I've gotten a firmware update to go through on the first try. So woohoo apple.
