Apple IS NOT going to move the MacBook to a Core 2 Duo until they've updated:
1) MacBook Pro
2) iMac
3) Maybe even Mac Mini, since it's been out forever!
Both the iMac and the MBP have been out longer than the Mini. The MBP has received slight CPU updates but the iMac has been out going on 8 months with no update at all.

Pushing the iPhone 5, along with iOS 5, to the fall really wouldn't surprise me at all. In fact it would seem a little weird if Apple were to finally release a white iPhone 4 and then release an iPhone 5 a month or two later... even if they have constantly kept "last years" model around at a discount previously. Maybe the white iPhone will be and iPhone 5...
The more probable result is that the white iPhone 4 will simply never be.
By this time, Foxconn is most likely shifting production of the iPhone 4 for the $99 price point and gearing up to produce lots of iPhone 5s for the summer.
I'm starting to wonder if a Iphone 5 is even going to come out this year i mean with the Verizon IPhone launched in February "kinda close to June - July IMO" so they might wait tell june of next year where we get AT&T and a Verizon IPhone upgrades.
Most of the iPhone's sales come from outside the United States, where GSM is the standard. Apple can't afford to lag behind other companies in those international markets so they will most likely not slip on shipping the iPhone 5 to much later than the previous models' date.

In 3 years there will be no "PREFERRED" anything with Macs. Everything that is installed on Mac will come from the App Store. It WILL BE the EXCLUSIVE method of loading ANYTHING on Macs. OS X will become exactly like iOS and ALL of you will just happily accept it. I expect to see statements on Macrumors like "Oh how wonderful it is that Steve is looking after us and protecting us from the evil world of Malware that those crappy PC's get. What if you want to do a full erase & restore? Surely they won't require you to burn it to a disc or USB drive, I can't see them expecting "average" users to do that, and wouldn't that be defeating the whole purpose of using the App Store to bypass the need for physical media in the first place?
I wonder if it somehow partitions the hard drive to make a small partition with a bootable installer on, and then installs Lion onto the larger, primary partition?

Don't get me wrong, I like to have the machines grow in power ever few months better than ever 12 to 18 months like we used to see before the switch.
However I wonder about the financials, how it will affect the inventories every time there is a new processor. Intel is competing for its life with AMD and we all get affected. But so do the manufactorers that have to time their productions so they don't end up with a lot of inventory with the old chip, If they wait too long to release improved machines then the competion gets all the good publicity and gets to be first. If too early, then have to discount a lot of inventory to move it.
Good news can also be bad news, but...... Bring it on, I like it, but watch the bottom line please.:o

You break my heart. Something tells me that this won't be the phone for me. I would put money on it having the one thing I don't want - a camera. I don't want it, I don't need it, and it's a pain to have one.
Although, I was thinking that there would be just a couple of BTO options - maybe a camera and BT - not an entire gamut of BTO possabilities. I agree that too many would be expensive (and the firmware would end up too complicated).
I think I would sold on a camera if and only if it takes >3MP shots & syncs w/ iPhoto... and the phone costs less than $300. :-P

I'd pay a premium for products manufactured in the US.
Products might be more expensive, but there would be more Americans employed. As much are there is a downside to producing here, there is also an upside.
I avoid most american made products, half of them are crap. Prime examples are the cars made by Chrysler and GM between 2000-2008. Last I heard, Apple was going to use non-Apple gear in their NC data center. That was just a rumor of course. But if there really are rackable Mac Pros on the way, I wonder if Apple could use them in NC...

Yea the 4x512 does suck, there wasnt even an option to put 2x1 gigers.

But I figure that I will get a 4 giger kit, slap that in and revel in my 6 gigs.
A personal best.

Was having problems getting sophos to complete a scan without bringing the MBP to a standstill and require a reboot... I read that thread and everything worked as it shouild. It has given me no other problems.

...and I think that will be the time to free myself from Apple bondage and return to the Windows fold. Especially if this is a sign that Apple are moving away from "proper" computers and pouring everything into iOS. :(
I jumped back to Windows recently after being Apple-exclusive since 1997 precisely because of the iOS direction everything is taking. Honestly? Not that hard of a transition. :P
As for the ARM thing, Apple has proved its mastery of the architecture with its mobile devices, so however radical it may be, the migration it seems plausible to me. Considering I'm just getting comfortable with x64 Assembly I wish it didn't. ;)
Might piss off the developer base though.

I don't really see how the Mac App Store idea would work, though, since the drive needs to be (well, should be) formatted prior to installation.
