Sad thing is either way people have made up their mind about it. If they think Apple is the bad guy here, they won't be dissuaded, if they think Google is saints despite tracking Google searches you do with some 100 cookies they'll believe it. It's sadly like the birthers, as much evidence, bi-partisan at that, comes to light, people will be ignorant because when you try to beat an idiot with logic and reason they'll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

That is funny. But, just like those funniest home videos, you have to wonder if they are real or staged.

well the server is only handling a few users files and the rest is email/dhcpgateway etc

so im really wondering if sas and raid card is worth it? or better soultions? or should i try to distrub the servers files or just slap 4 identical sata drives in etc.
If the user count isn't that high (low IOPS), then sticking with SATA could suffice (figure ~90 IOPS for a single SATA disk).

There's still very little info to go on here, so it's hard to give you solid answers.

Hi, I use my time capsule as my main wireless net connection.

I also have an airport express in my house for airplay in another room and an Apple TV for airplay etc...

If I connect to my Time Capsule network for internet on wireless I cant seem to send music to my airport express, although it is still visible.

If I connect to my airport express from my computer it will then appear as a device for airplay and my Apple TV, Computer and Express will all work...

I do have a work around of just connecting my computer with Ethernet for net, then using my wireless on my mac to connect to my express although this is not ideal....

Would rather connect to my time capsule and have all devices visible...

    Thanks!

You don't want to put an alias to your links folder on dropbox, you need to actually put your links in that folder and link to them there. This way you can really be linked to the same files as everyone else.

    Hey guys

does anyone know where i can find the FastMac colored mini cases? My mac mini case seems to be broken since i cant close the top case completely so i'm looking to get one of the fastmac cases but i can't seem to find them on the fastmac site? I can see the picture of it on top of the page sometimes but it seems like the link is broken.

    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/FastMacs_Custom_Color_Mac_mini_Cases/

If they dont sell them anymore does anyone know where i can buy a similar case?

    Thanks

I want an ibook that is a little smaller than the newton. Just take out the big screen, keyboard, and cd. Keep all the connections and ad a little floating pallete to make navigation easier in OS X. It would be like a Pocket PC but it would have the same power as the ibook because all the guts would be almost the same. Apple already has all the parts, the only problem is the price. So, right now even in the 21st century, the price on this kind of technology done right would be too high for the average user. Maybe they would do better to just make an iBook under a thousand. It would be slow for power users, but just fine for school.

Maybe not walking around, but at home on a desk I could imagine it.

Not to being a pain but why would I do that if I could have proper video chat on my laptop/desktop then? Sorry but that won't work as some poor attempts in the link from above posts.
Apple got already some patent for camera behind screen and that I would call a cool feature

I use Photoshop Elements 2.0. Got it for ~$35 off Ebay. I use it to make wallpapers for cell phones and computer. Very easy to crop and cut, resize, color change, add text, combine photos. 3.0 is out now and is probably better.

At the moment im just using the iMac G4 as a print server and music player in the kitchen (1GHz, 1GB, USB2, 802.11G) however im toying with the idea of turning it into a backup server and was wondering if anyone had any insight into the best way to go about it?

At the minute i have my main computer (an intel imac) in my bedroom with a number of external drives for storage which backs up to a Drobo using Time Machine. The problem i have is that the Drobo is way too loud for the room.

My first idea is to put the Drobo in the kitchen attached to the iMac G4 and backup over the wifi (as my Airport Extreme is in living room) my main issue with it is this and a full backup is around 2.5TB which would take over a month

is anyone out there using such an old computer for this sort of thing? and do you have any tips? Money is also an issue at the moment so i cant go out and buy something quieter! :o Any help appreciated

Congratulations, Pizzach! :) You should definitely get Mozdev to put this in their theme collection. I just wanted to let you know that, after I said last that I would download it, I have been using it continuously. :)

I did want to mention two things I experienced, when trying to get 1.0 from 0.9.6 (a?). This is all with FF 1.0 -- I have not yet upgraded to 1.0.1. First, when I clicked the theme in the theme mgr, and clicked update, it did not find the update. I'm not sure if this is because of your hosting situation or not, although I know that TBE is not hosted by Mozdev (because it is deprecated), and the built-in update still works for it.

Second, when I went to your website and chose to install 1.0, it appeared separately from the 0.9.6, instead of upgrading it, and it disappeared (!) immediately when it finished downloading. I quit, and restarted, and it was still gone (I was still on 0.9.6). I then de-installed 0.9.6, installed 1.0, had to quit (but I couldn't select this theme yet, because it was just downloaded!), restart and select 1.0, and quit and restart again to get it to work. But I am now rolling with 1.0. :)

This MacOs-becoming-iOS fear thing is getting out of your hands people!

Haha, well I think it's a valid concern!! I mean I would hope that Apple wouldn't do that to us, but honestly I wouldn't be too surprised.

A HUGE part of Lion is the OS doing the multitasking so we don't have to think about it. That's why apple took away the little light below the apps. There is no "open" or "close".

Although, I suppose another thing about Lion is that every state gets saved. So if a window or safari tab were to close, then hypothetically it would open back exactly how it was??

I would assume that any open windows stay open (and no safari refreshing!) but can any of you Lioners out there confirm this?

I know how the peeps around here like their music (**cough** free **cough**). And I know this may not be the most up to the minute post, but I searched around and could not find it posted earlier on the forums. I came across this guy by happenstance and really liked his finger-picking style of guitar.
