I should add that this is the one reason I'm interested in VMWare - native disk speed. I can partition my disk to XP and Mac ala Bootcamp and have VMWare use the partition natively for disk access.

This is why I posted my comment correcting your innaccurate assumption that "the iPod is still Apple's cash cow".
The funny part is that I was in no way "defending" the iPod, since I don't have one at the moment and was just as annoyed at Apple as everyone else that Macs were not centerstage... in '04 and '05.
We're rounding out '06 and that argument hasn't held water since last year.

Maybe that's the way it strikes you, but this isn't the way it strikes those of us who've been using Pages since it came out.
But all of my work is poorly-researched, so maybe that's why I like it.

So it's not like I'm the only one who thinks that Pages needs more to better compare to Word. As it stands, I'll give Pages a shot if I need to do something fancier than writing for MFA workshops.
Plus, I save a couple of bucks.
But all of my work is poorly-researched, so maybe that's why I like it.

I really don't get what the big deal is, even though I have a 24" model myself...come on, you guys are complaining about having three extra inches of workspace? Unless you live in a cubicle, this should be no issue AT ALL.
I am definitely looking forward to buying a 27" one in replacement of my 2008 Aluminum 24", just for the extra horsepower, I/O and better GPU (not that mine isn't wonderful already)...just bring me SB goodness, 1 or 2Tb HDs, perhaps a small SDD for the quickest boot, TB port and a higher-than-average GPU...glossy is fine by me as well :D
+1. 27" is a different AR. Its just like a wider 24". I have the same 24" you have, and can't wait to pick up the new 27" (hopefully larger even). I will probably hold out until Lion comes out and for the new SSDs to come down in price (not apple's).

I don't care much for a bluetoothed version of this P.O.S.
At the moment the Mighty mouse has heaps of potential to be a great mouse if only Apple fixes the current issues it encounters such as sometimes not being able to scroll downwards, erratically activating expose (side buttons) when I don't even have my fingers near there and other few quirks....
Now if its going to be bluethooth, it'll be harder to tell whether its the mouse or the bluetooth faulting.

I don't know about setting thresholds like that, but I sure would like to be able to download (and re-download) free apps without being prompted every time.

Instead of acting like the world class company they could be, Apple comes across as fools.
I must admit, I'm much happier being seen with my Galaxy S.
When one is seen in this town (New York) with an iPhone they look at you like "oh, you're one of those snobs".
Yet the irony is they're a dime a dozen here.
You are totally awesome, guy. It's not just your phone, it's a message about your whole lifestyle. I too care way more about what a stranger who sees me using a phone might think than I do how it actually works. All these dime a dozen sheep buying iPhones because they're easier to use and more elegant than Android phones are total losers. Could someone clarify this for me: Aren't hard drives too slow to make use of Thunderbolt anyway? In a typical USB 2.0 external hard drive, what is the bottleneck in speed: The speed at which the hard drive spins, or the USB 2.0 connection? If it's the USB, then why do people even care about the RPM of a drive? If it's the RPM, then isn't USB 2.0 fast enough to run a hard drive at its native speed?
Let's look at it a different way...
Almost every residential building in NYC has 1/4" to 1/2" (diameter) copper water pipes for their city water service... Even skyscrapers are mostly fitted with similar sized pipes for 99% of it's living spaces.. So, why is NYC paying billions of dollars to have a 24 feet diameter water pipe constructed to bring water down from the reservoirs or why build a 12+ lane super-highway when a car is only one lane in width?

Usage of TB technology is not restricted to a single user (device) at a time... TB is very much like a the PCI bus found in modern PC's, cept it's all done on a much smaller interconnect... It's really very sweet you can literally have 3 or 4 monitors running off of it as well as accessing a very high speed NAS and reading from a bluray drive (not playing from it ... but thats not the fault of TB)... It can literally have EVERYTHING and ANYTHING plugged into it.... Well put it this way... if something can be engineered to operate in a PCI slot... It'll work just fine as a TB device.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just disputing the idea that somehow the U.S. courts are biased towards Apple. Apple's court results don't indicate that.

If this happens I will be 100% surprised. I mean- look at the Sony TVs with Google. They're like $600 for a 24" TV. Does anyone own one of those? I just don't see this happening. Like the article says the market is overcrowded and the profit margins are too slim. Not very appealing for any company...
