Wow. That must've wasted a ton of your time.

I don't believe this rumour to be honest, but it's fun to spectulate.

For goodness sakes, the delivery date aside, Apple has already virtually confirmed that an Apple phone is on the way.

I can't see the Cinema Displays having built in iSight. I mean sure, it's useful - but what about people who work in environments where you can't have cameras (i.e. some pros) what about people who have dual monitors etc...I can't see it being feasible.

If you 'can't have cameras' dont use them. It doesnt matter if they are built in. And for people with dual monitors they will have... er... oh yeh two cameras :D

Well, when you couple the fact it's an entirely new architecture for intel, along with being 64-bit, it might tie in nicely at the developer conference. I expect Leopard to evolve into a full 64-bit OS so these chips can would make for a great entrance at WWDC...IMO.

I agree, 64 bit would be developer worthy, but why wait to introduce a new chip until then? Picture this - release new MBP and iMacs with the new chip before WWDC. At WWDC you annouce and showcase the OS, not the hardware, and at the end introduce a new desktop model and then say "all our pro line of computers and even the top consumer line support 64 bit NOW". Far more impact IMHO.

I hope Apple goes with their own new network.

It would be extremely difficult for them to start their own new network. Since they have billions in the bank, I wouldn't doubt that they could build it, but I doubt that the FCC would provide them a license. There may be some loopholes in FCC regulations allowing this if they provided data services as well, such as presence information (think instant messanger only on a cell where you would know in advance if the person you are going to call is available) or Voip/VoWiFi services... More likely, I could see them being an "MVNO" Mobile Virtual Network Operator like Disney or ESPN who basically resell Sprint service...I see becoming a mobile provider as being a distraction from their primary business goals and even being an MVNO is more trouble than it is worth. They need to get one of the major cell providers to support their phone for it to be a success. Unfortunately, the iPhone goes against the strategic interests of most of these companies...

Could you bump that up if you called back and did the overnight gig?

    Just curious.

My friend (an apple employee) used his discount and ordered for me at the store. I don't think he ever asked me about shipping, I assumed it was standard for every consumer.

I can see an extra week to added on to throw in an extra gig and ship from China, not NINE days! Either way it will be here and in the meantime I'll HOPE FOR THE BEST, and expect yonah.

"Great, all we need is another iPod."
    Poor Rob. :D

If it is something impressive I may just have to get it - seeing as I've never had an iPod (shocking, I know).

I see the short sighted Apple pom-pom shakers are once again giddy with excitement. The juvenile remarks are embarrassing.

For some strange reason you think monopolies are good for consumers.

The MacBook is a "consumer" model. The Pro is for the "Professional", although I'm some sort of a "professional", and my MacBook suits me just fine. (I liked the form factor and the keyboard.) Stuffed with 2G of RAM and a 100G 7.2K drive it runs OS X, Windows & CentOS (via Parallels desktop) just fine. It's like a digital Swiss Army knife - I haven't found much it can't do reasonably well. :o

    I second this opinion.

There's nothing I've hit that a MacBook can't handle as well as I was hoping for, and most things it does even quicker than I thought it would.

And I'm in that "sort of pro" catagory, as well.

It's remarkable how far TomTom's goodwill swung from enthusiasm in early summer to spite. I see a lot of hate on TomTom not on the merits of the kit itself.

It appears to be a quality mount, BT hands-free kit, built in speaker, and car charger. Add that up and it can get pricey, then top it off with the GPS assistance. If that value doesn't make sense to you, don't buy it. To complain they won't sell it to you for $19.95 is just petty.

Android has been shown (http://thenextweb.com/google/2011/04/21/its-not-just-the-iphone-android-stores-your-location-data-too/) to also gather location information, but the database is limited to a much smaller list of entries and is regularly wiped by the system. Jobs' email seems to explicitly claim, however, that Google's location information is used to track users while Apple's is not.

Umm, Android's on-phone database might be smaller, but the phone sends all your location data to Google several times an hour tied to a unique identifier, where I'm sure the database is unlimited. And even if you trust Google with that data, they've been hacked before.

The only way anyone gets your iPhone data is if they steal your phone and you don't do a remote wipe in time. Or if they steal your computer and you don't encrypt backups.

I do think the Android and potentially RIM tablet will catch on. It's foolish to think Apple will be the only major player in the long run. The market is potentially too big.

Apple is the only major player in the MP3 player market, even though that market is huge.

Microsoft is the only major player in the desktop OS market, even though that market is huge.

Google is the only major player in the search market, even though that market is huge.

    Etc.

Now THAT's what I would like:

"Since the release of the 15 inch MacBook Pro in January, speculation on the forthcoming Apple laptops is spreading throughout the net. Meanwhile, MacosXrumors has received a very unexpected report, providing information about one of the forthcoming MacBook Pros.

The sources that can be qualified as very reliable (yes you read it well), are claiming that Apple plans to keep similar display size for its entry level Mac Book Pro by releasing what sources called an ultra-thin 12 inch Mac Book Pro."

    Source: www.macosxrumors.com

I would buy one on the same day.

    Omg omg omg!!!

Was it an economist or someone who actually understands economics? :D :p

There are people who actually understand economics?
    ;)

    mcrain, FYI,
Which "game"? *Are you "trading and investing" in companies by purchasing shares in IPOs, or are you "trading and investing" on Wall St.? *If it is the latter, then basically you are buying and selling ownership interests in companies, which has almost no affect on underlying companies.from another thread:My particular strategy involves options and a calendar spread, which means I'm taking a long and short position on the same underlying security, which creates a net zero effect. I am primarily focused on making money through the time decay of the options.

    This whole discussion is stupid.

Apple is not going to endorse a major company's ad program that encourages the general consumer to JB their phone. It's risky for many people and it voids the Apple warrantee. Period.

Apple asking Toyota to pull it was the only thing they could do and Toyota was smart enough to see the error in their way.

Sorry... but JB has risks and it's not for everyone.

There will be an iPhone 5 in June/July. People's expectations, and people's contracts, are too tied into the yearly update cycle for Apple to do anything else without running the risk if losing customers (especially 3GS owners) and losing buzz. It also gives other phones the chance for some anti-iPhone marketing - "the iPhone is dated, it can't keep up with modern phones, etc.".

I also don't think that the Verizon launch will play any role - Verizon is just one US carrier, for one; for another, people on V contracts won't be any better off when their contract is 7 months old than they will be when their contract was 3 months old. But people who are waiting for a verizon iP5 may not wait if it goes beyond June/July.

However, Apple may not make an announcement at WWDC. It wouldn't surprise me if they moved to the standalone stealth announcement model like they did for the iPad 2...maybe they have a special announcement the first week of June that the iP5 will be available the last week of June. Announcing things a couple of months in advance is nice for customers, but also gives competing handset makers a lot of lead time to perhaps alter existing designs to copy the iPhone.

i don't think it would appeal to that many people, to have an apple tablet.

i mean, the PC/Win versions aren't great sellers...

Probably used more for medical infomatics applications than anything else. Here at the nursing college I work for we are always evaluating Windoze tablet computers for medical applications. Sure would be nice to see a Mac alternative out there.

Mathematica 8. As far as I am concerned the most powerful math software available. People don't shell out thousands of dollars for a product that can't do basic math.
