It seems to me that the media and those sending steve email don't understand what it means when they say "Apple is tracking me".

I don't know why but my MBP 13 i7 2011 is showing "Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB graphics" on the About this mac screen on Display tab.:eek:

The iPhone 4 is already dated relative to other phones on the market. To have a phone on the market for 18 months without an update is insane.
You're missing something here.... The iPhone actually gets updates over its lifespan rather than promises of updates followed up by the requirement to buy a new phone in order to install the latest version of an open Android operating system on a closed manufacturer's phone. All-to-frequent updates make buyers feel like they have been tricked, especially when they cannot upgrade their phone to do the same things the new phones are doing because the manufacturer prevents it.
Not to mention that most folks have 2 year contracts and don't like to pay the penalty to upgrade early. The notion that 15 months between upgrades (not 18 months -- if you are counting June 2010 to September 2011) is not bad at all -- especially to the masses who are not early adopters. The iPhone 4 is still holding its own against the competition and its better than it was when it released because of software upgrades. It still does many things better than phones that have released since (like take better photos). Heck, I am still using my iPhone 3GS and I still love it because it gets new features every few months and has even improved on performance.
Do I think a dual-core 1Gz iPhone with 1GB of RAM would stack up better statistically against the competition? Yes. Do I think that phone will do more things and be faster? Yes. Do I think 3 months will matter all that much in the long run? No. If it means some vast improvements are coming (including LTE) -- then I am willing to wait 3 months.

Umm, sadly, tens of thousands of people have already died from the natural disaster alone (earthquake/tsunami) and Nuclear Power or anything "man-made" had nothing to do with it... However, the secondary hit Japan is going to take from their Nuclear problem remains to be seen.
What really is selfish is these so called environmentalists that decry oil drilling as bad for the earth and a pollutant in so many ways, that they and other activists made it EVIL to even think it and some politicians make fun of it, but yet the world's economies depend on fossil fuels in so many ways. While it may be true of oil's pollutant value, there is no mistaking that you can go in and clean up most oil spills without a geiger counter and not worry about radiation poisoning and the people would have oil to heat their homes and gas to drive their cars. Something those in the hard struck areas of Japan currently don't have. Making the width & height those dimensions, might make the length a lot longer. I could see space requirement problems & how would placement be effected without it being rack mounted?

Yes they can. There is no protection under law for making money off the ineptitude of other companies. Apple is entitled, and expected to fix bugs. When those bugs get fixed, an avenue for jail breaking gets closed. Companies that see their revenue stream dry up are just screwed. That's life.
Jail breaking happens because Apple screwed the pooch on security. That's all.

Well, in the supposed leaked 10.5 screenshots a month or two ago, people noticed that iCal and Address Book appeared to be merged into a single application.
Apple's got its interface libraries and more working on Windows already - iTunes, Quicktime. I'm sure that whilst not simple, it wouldn't be too hard to get this new PIM application running on Windows. Same with iPhoto, for camera phone pictures.
So the iPhone's Windows software pack would comprise of iTunes, iPhoto, and iCal/iPIM. Clearly iPIM will have iSync capability integrated into it, much like iTunes and iPhoto manage their own data syncing themselves. I hope there is a way to sync text and multimedia messages too. Indeed iPIM may be more targetted for these phones, and include necessary photo syncing capabilities from iPhoto itself.

I'm still on a 3GS. If I don't get an iPhone 5 this summer, the world won't end. In fact, it will be nice to not hear my wife get in my ear about getting an iPad & an iPhone only months apart from each other.
Plus, if they delay it & get better technology in it, I can wait it out.

It doesn't take a genius to predict that when proprietary OS, making essentially one model of phone, is compared to essentially the rest of the world, that the open OS, having perhaps 30 companies manufacturing perhaps 50 or so models of phone at any time, that they will garner a bigger market share.
Apple couldn't get enough parts to compete with 30 companies if they tried. They don't want to. Apple is not trying for world dominance. They are trying for perfection. Just as there are more Ford Pintos in the world than Bentleys. Who cares.

Apple will not keep Yonah in the MacBooks. Such a marketing differentiation tactic would be idiocy. All PC manufacturers are moving to Merom when it's available. The cost is the same. Yonah is dead. I expect a simultaneous transition of MBP, MB, and iMac very soon, moving all Macs to 64 bit.
I suggest you read up about Intels supply numbers! There will be no simultaneous transition as Intel cannot supply the demand this would create

Unfortunately, that's just the way it is with apple, and it's despicable.
I'm hoping with the next MBP update, they also tweak the enclosure to allow for an easily swappable HDD, like the macbook. It simply isn't fair that a lower end model gets a great feature like that and the higher end gets screwed. I would be sorely disappointed if this did not happen with the update.
Because of return policy issues, I will probably go ahead and get the 5400rpm drive. It seems like much less hassle to stay away from BTO systems if something goes wrong.MovieCutter told me that there is negligible difference in performance between the 5400 and 7200 high capacity dirves and that the 120GB 5400 is a better way to go - lower heat, higher capacity, lower power draw. I'm hoping the top models have a 160GB Seagate inside.
If there is no easy access HD bay in the new 17" 2.33GHz C2D MBP I will not buy one of these and opt for a 2GHz C2D MacBook when it ships or wait for the next 17" MBP revision. I feel so strongly about wanting this feature that I refuse to buy a mobile Mac without it.

It makes sense given that the iPhone 4 in White is just about to hit the market.
It would be stupid for Apple to finally START selling the White iPhone 4 only to 2-3 months later release the iPhone 5. Why go through all the hassles of developing the White iPhone only to effectively end its appeal 2 months later???
If they were going to do that, they would have probably just scrapped the white iPhone 4 and told everyone to stay tuned because something better was coming in its place.
I know I would be royally pissed if I had bought a product at release date only to have something even better come out just 2-3 months later. I know technology moves fast, but damn!
This way, if the iPhone 4 White Hits in April, that gives people at least 5-6 months of using it before a new one is announced or released.
This may also be an indication that iPhone 5 will just hit when iOS 5 is ready and that it will be uniquely positioned to take full advantage of it.
It also means I got until September to stash enough cash to buy the iPhone 5 unlocked and contract-free at release. :D
